AnimaWings Welcomes Romania’s First Airbus A220-300: A New Era in Aviation
AnimaWings has proudly taken delivery of Romania’s first-ever Airbus A220-300, marking a significant milestone for the airline and the country’s aviation sector. The state-of-the-art aircraft arrived from Airbus’s Mirabel facility in Canada and is set to enhance AnimaWings’ operational capabilities and passenger offerings.
The Airbus A220-300 is the first of four aircraft that will join AnimaWings’ fleet as part of a strategic agreement with US-based aircraft lessor Azorra. This delivery not only underscores AnimaWings’ commitment to modernizing its operations but also highlights the growing presence of the A220 among European airlines.
Airbus A220-300: A Game-Changer for AnimaWings
Marius Pandel, Co-Owner of AnimaWings, expressed his excitement about the new addition: “Welcoming our first Airbus A220-300 marks a significant milestone in our growth strategy. This advanced aircraft offers unparalleled efficiency and superior passenger comfort, enabling us to provide connectivity to popular destinations such as Dubai, Cluj, Iasi, Oradea, Paris, Larnaca, and Stockholm.”
Pandel also emphasized the importance of their partnership with Azorra, stating, “Their expertise has been instrumental in helping us take this significant step forward in shaping the future of our fleet.”
A Milestone for Airbus and the A220 Family
Benoît Schultz, CEO of Airbus Canada, noted that this delivery is a noteworthy achievement for the A220 program, making AnimaWings the tenth operator of the A220 in Europe. “The innovative cabin features of the A220 will ensure that AnimaWings’ passengers enjoy a superior flying experience. Furthermore, as a latest-generation aircraft, the A220 boasts 25% lower CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous models," Schultz added.
The A220-300 is gaining traction among various airlines, including Lufthansa, Egyptair, Delta Air Lines, and airBaltic, the latter operating an entirely A220 fleet. Originally manufactured by Bombardier in Canada, the A220 came under Airbus’s control in 2018 after the firm acquired a majority stake.
A Bright Future for Romanian Aviation
John Evans, CEO and Founder of Azorra, expressed pride in delivering the first A220-300 to AnimaWings, stating, “This delivery signifies a major step for aviation in Romania. With its unmatched performance and efficiency, this aircraft is perfectly suited to support AnimaWings’ growth objectives.”
