Air Astana Expands Its Routes: New Flights to Guangzhou and Nha Trang

Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s leading airline, is enhancing its international offerings with the introduction of new direct flights to Guangzhou, China, set to begin on March 30, 2025. This announcement comes just days after the airline revealed plans for direct flights from Kazakhstan to Nha Trang, Vietnam, starting March 31, 2025. With these additions, Air Astana is solidifying its commitment to expanding its global footprint and enhancing connectivity for travelers.

New Direct Flights to Guangzhou

The new route between Almaty Airport (ALA) and Guangzhou-Baiyun International Airport (CAN) will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Flights will leave Almaty at 20:50, arriving in Guangzhou at 05:45 the next day. The return leg will see flights departing Guangzhou at 06:50, arriving back in Almaty at 10:20. This service marks a significant expansion of Air Astana’s presence in China, complementing existing routes to Beijing and Urumqi.

Peter Foster, Chief Executive of Air Astana, highlighted the strategic importance of China to the airline, noting that the new Guangzhou service represents a significant step in expanding the airline’s network. "Guangzhou is the largest industrial center in China and an essential economic hub with a rich history," Foster said. The city lies just 75 miles (120 km) northwest of Hong Kong and serves as a gateway to numerous business and cultural opportunities.

Kazakhstan’s Visa-Free Travel to China

Another appealing aspect for travelers is that Kazakhstan citizens can currently visit China for up to 30 days without a visa, making these new routes even more attractive for both business and leisure travelers.

Air Astana’s Growing Network and Fleet

In addition to the new Guangzhou flights, Air Astana currently operates seven weekly flights between Almaty and Beijing, as well as four weekly flights to Urumqi. The airline is on a growth trajectory, with several new routes and aircraft expected to join its fleet in 2025. Currently, Air Astana operates a fleet of 31 aircraft, servicing 60 routes to 37 destinations across 20 countries.
