ANA Places Order for 77 New Aircraft from Airbus, Boeing, Embraer
ANA Holdings Inc. Expands Fleet with 77 New Aircraft Orders to Boost Growth
In a significant move to enhance its operational capacity, ANA Holdings Inc. has announced an impressive fleet expansion, placing orders for 77 new aircraft from industry giants Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer. This order, which includes 68 confirmed aircraft and 9 options, is a crucial part of ANA’s long-term growth strategy aimed at optimizing fleet efficiency and supporting international and domestic operations.
The new aircraft acquisition is designed to focus on fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, with plans to incorporate Boeing 787-9s for international routes, Embraer E190-E2s for domestic services, and Airbus A321XLRs for its subsidiary, Peach Aviation.
ANA Orders 77 New Aircraft to Enhance Operations
ANA’s latest aircraft order is a strategic initiative to support sustainable growth and improve operational efficiency. By fiscal year 2030, the airline group aims to operate approximately 320 aircraft, with a remarkable 91% of its fleet consisting of fuel-efficient models. This commitment aligns with ANA’s dedication to environmental sustainability and cost optimization in its operations.
Expansion of International Routes
To meet increasing demand, particularly on Asia-North America routes, ANA has ordered 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft equipped with GE engines. This fleet enhancement is expected to significantly boost the airline’s global reach, with international seat capacity projected to increase by 1.5 times by FY2030 compared to FY2023.
Domestic Fleet Modernization with Embraer E190-E2
For its domestic services, ANA will introduce 20 Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, marking the first deployment of this model in Japan. These jets, designed for 100 passengers, feature advanced engines that reduce both fuel consumption and noise emissions. This modernization will allow ANA to maintain a flexible supply-demand balance while minimizing operational costs, with deployment slated to begin in FY2028.
Enhancing Peach Aviation Operations
Peach Aviation, ANA’s low-cost carrier, will also benefit from this expansion as it upgrades its fleet with 10 Airbus A321neo and 3 Airbus A321XLR aircraft. These fuel-efficient, long-range jets will not only support Peach Aviation’s expansion plans but also enhance its cost efficiency.
Additional Orders for Comprehensive Fleet Renewal
In addition to the previous orders, ANA will incorporate 14 Airbus A321neo and 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft into its fleet, with 8 confirmed orders and 4 options. The airline has also secured options for 5 Boeing 787-9s and 10 Boeing 737-8s from earlier commitments, further solidifying its fleet renewal strategy.
Strengthening Market Position
This strategic aircraft order is poised to bolster ANA Group’s domestic and international operations while adhering to financial discipline. President and CEO Koji Shibata emphasized that this fleet expansion will not only enhance the profitability of domestic flights but also drive growth in international markets. He reiterated ANA’s commitment to becoming an industry leader in sustainable development.
