Discover Airlines Launches Exciting Long-Haul Flights from Munich Airport

Discover Airlines, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group dedicated to the leisure market, is set to make waves in international travel with the introduction of its first long-haul flights from Munich Airport (MUC). This expansion not only marks a significant milestone for the airline but also offers travelers exciting new vacation opportunities.

New Long-Haul Destinations from Munich

Beginning March 5, 2025, Discover Airlines will commence flights to three exciting long-haul destinations: Orlando, Florida (MCO), Windhoek, Namibia (WDH), and Calgary, Canada (YYC). Each of these routes will operate three times a week, providing ample options for travelers looking to explore new horizons.

  • Orlando, Florida: Inaugural service starts March 5, 2025
  • Windhoek, Namibia: Launching April 1, 2025
  • Calgary, Canada: Set to begin April 12, 2025

After the summer season, the Calgary route will transition to a new service to Punta Cana (PUJ), a sought-after beach resort in the Dominican Republic. The Orlando and Windhoek routes will remain operational year-round, catering to travelers year-round.

Aircraft and Operations at Munich Airport

To support these new long-haul services, Discover Airlines will base two Airbus A330 aircraft at Munich Airport. This addition complements the six A320 aircraft already stationed at the airport, enhancing the airline’s capacity to meet growing demand.

Since its rebranding from Eurowings Discover in September 2023, Discover Airlines has rapidly expanded its network, now offering flights to 32 leisure destinations across Europe, particularly in the Mediterranean and Canary Islands.

A Seamless Transition for Travelers

The launch of these long-haul flights comes as part of Discover Airlines’ strategic plan to enhance its offerings in the leisure travel market. Previously, Eurowings Discover operated between 2021 and 2023, serving similar roles from Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich.
