Jetstar Australia Unveils Direct Flights from Brisbane to the Cook Islands
Jetstar Australia has announced the upcoming launch of direct flights connecting Brisbane Airport (BNE) to Rarotonga International Airport (RAR), starting in May 2026.
These flights will operate three times a week and will utilize the airline’s Airbus A321neo LR fleet.
This new service represents Jetstar’s second direct route from Australia to the stunning Cook Islands, following the introduction of direct flights from Sydney to Rarotonga in June 2023.
Currently, Jetstar is the exclusive airline providing non-stop flights between Brisbane, Sydney, and Rarotonga.
“This new route builds on the incredible demand we’re seeing out of Queensland, with six international services launched or announced in just six months,” stated Jetstar Group CEO Stephanie Tully.
“When these flights commence in May 2026, Jetstar will offer over 110,000 seats annually to and from the Cook Islands. We’re thrilled to collaborate with our partners, including the Cook Islands Government, to provide more Australians the opportunity to visit this stunning destination,” Tully elaborated.
“We are excited by Jetstar’s commitment to the Cook Islands, and we’re ready to greet Australian travelers with warmth and hospitality,” said Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown.
“The Cook Islands boast beautiful tropical scenery, famous for its crystal-clear waters, with Aitutaki lagoon recognized as one of the most picturesque locations worldwide. Our vibrant culture and various activities are huge attractions for Australians,” Brown added.
Rarotonga is the largest island in the Cook Islands, which comprise 15 islands and atolls situated in the South Pacific, roughly midway between New Zealand and Hawaii. Named after British explorer James Cook, who first visited in the 1770s, this self-governing territory operates in free association with New Zealand, using the New Zealand dollar as its official currency.
To celebrate this new route, Jetstar is offering promotional fares starting at just AUD 249 (approximately US $160) for one-way travel between Brisbane and Rarotonga. These special fares will be available from midday (AEST) on August 5, 2025, during a 48-hour Route Launch Sale at Jetstar Australia’s website.
