Jet2 Launches 13th UK Base at London-Luton Airport
On April 1, 2025, Jet2 launched its 13th UK base at London-Luton Airport, expanding its operations significantly. The airline introduced two Airbus A321neo aircraft and plans to operate up to 36 weekly flights to popular European and Mediterranean destinations. This follows the opening of its Bournemouth base earlier in the year. To celebrate, Jet2 hosted a festive event at the airport, offering personalized gifts and free flight vouchers to passengers. The new base also created over 125 jobs. Jet2’s upcoming Winter 2025/26 program will feature flights to eight winter sun destinations, further enhancing travel options for holidaymakers.
Air India Achieves GDP Certification for Cargo Services
Air India, owned by Tata Group, has achieved the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for its cargo operations, becoming the first Indian airline to do so. This certification reinforces its standing in the air cargo sector, particularly for transporting pharmaceuticals, with over 4,000 tonnes shipped in the fiscal year 2024-25. Air India connects GDP-certified stations in India, including Delhi and Mumbai, to major international destinations like New York and London. The certification underscores the airline’s commitment to handling temperature-sensitive medical products and supports India’s ambition to be a leading global air cargo hub for pharmaceuticals.
Air India Launches New Flights to Major Buddhist Site
Air India, a Tata Group subsidiary, is launching a new daily flight service to Gaya (GAY), commencing September 1, 2025. This marks Gaya as Air India’s 46th domestic destination, enhancing access to Bodh Gaya, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site. The service will utilize Airbus A320 aircraft, offering a full-service experience. Flights from Delhi (AI429) will depart at 14:30, arriving in Gaya at 16:05, while the return (AI430) will leave Gaya at 16:40, reaching Delhi at 18:00. This route aims to boost religious tourism and improve connectivity for international travelers visiting Bodh Gaya and other sacred sites.

Emirates Adds Kuwait and Bahrain to A350 Route List
Emirates Airlines will expand its Airbus A350-900 routes to Kuwait and Bahrain starting January 8, 2024. This follows the aircraft’s inaugural flight to Edinburgh on January 3. The A350-900 promises enhanced comfort and efficiency, connecting key cities such as Muscat, Lyon, and Mumbai. The flight schedules include EK 853 departing Dubai at 01:25 to Kuwait and EK 837 at 08:20 to Bahrain.
