KLM Introduces Direct Flights from Amsterdam to Hyderabad with Boeing 777-200ERs

Dutch airline KLM has launched its newest route connecting the Netherlands and India. The inaugural flight from Amsterdam to Hyderabad successfully landed after an eight-hour and 40-minute journey from the Dutch capital.

Departing from Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport (AMS) at 12:05 PM on September 2, 2025, flight PH-BQD, operated by a Boeing 777-200ER, arrived at Hyderabad-Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) at 00:15 local time on September 3, 2025. This new route marks Hyderabad as KLM’s fourth Indian destination, alongside Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The airline plans to operate three flights weekly on this route, utilizing the Boeing 777-200ER for each service.

The arrival of the inaugural flight (KL873) was celebrated in Hyderabad, with festivities that included a traditional Indian dance performance. KLM’s COO, Maarten Stienen, led a delegation at the airport to commemorate the launch together with local partners and guests.

More about Hyderabad

Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, has a population exceeding seven million and is experiencing significant economic growth. Known as the “Pharmaceutical Capital of India,” the city hosts more than 800 pharmaceutical companies and is a hub for various American and European IT firms.

“Hyderabad Airport ranks as the fourth busiest in India, following Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, and is witnessing rapid passenger growth. Its central location in southern India and extensive domestic connections via KLM’s partner airline IndiGo make it a key business and logistics center,” said an airline statement.

“India is swiftly becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and is a vital trading partner for the Netherlands and the EU,” noted Maarten Stienen. He added, “The number of passengers traveling between Amsterdam and India has nearly doubled in recent years. By introducing Hyderabad as a significant business destination, KLM is broadening its network to cater to this rising demand.”
