LATAM Secures Up to 74 Embraer E195-E2 Jets for 2026 Delivery

LATAM Airlines Group has unveiled an ambitious plan to renew and expand its fleet, confirming an order for as many as 74 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. This deal includes 24 firm orders along with an option for 50 more, with a total estimated value of approximately $2.1 billion based on list prices.

The initial deliveries are set to begin in the latter half of 2026. LATAM Airlines Brasil will initially operate these jets, although there is potential for redistribution among other affiliates in the future.

Enhancing Regional Connectivity

LATAM anticipates that the new E195-E2 aircraft will bolster its regional and domestic networks. By servicing less-populated cities and thinner routes, these planes can tap into areas that larger single-aisle jets cannot economically serve. The airline estimates that it might introduce up to 35 new destinations to its current roster of around 160 passenger locations.

In recent years, LATAM’s network has expanded significantly, growing from 129 to roughly 160 destinations. The addition of the E195-E2 is expected to further enhance this growth strategy by offering additional flexibility and suitable capacity.

Why Choose the E195-E2?

The E195-E2, noted as the largest in Embraer’s E-Jet E2 series, can accommodate up to 146 passengers in a single-class setup. LATAM emphasized the aircraft’s fuel efficiency, lower per-seat costs, and enhanced passenger comfort, featuring a two-by-two seating arrangement without middle seats.

With improved aerodynamics and next-generation engines, the E195-E2 is designed to lower fuel consumption and emissions compared to older regional aircraft. This efficiency is projected to reduce LATAM’s operational costs on regional flights, supporting its sustainability objectives.

Current Fleet Overview

As of now, LATAM operates a diverse fleet of around 362 aircraft, which includes 283 Airbus narrow-bodies, 56 Boeing wide-bodies, and 20 freighters. The introduction of the Embraer E195-E2 marks a strategic pivot toward incorporating smaller, more versatile aircraft into its existing lineup.

LATAM has stated that this order aligns with its financial strategies and will not necessitate adjustments to its leverage or liquidity targets.
