Discover the Latest A350 Fleet Plans from New European Airlines
FRANKFURT- Discover Airlines (4Y), a leisure airline belonging to the Lufthansa Group, has unveiled an ambitious plan to expand its fleet to 40 aircraft by the middle of 2028.
In 2027, the airline will introduce four Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This upgrade will significantly modernize its long-haul fleet, as the A350-900 is recognized as one of the most sophisticated wide-body aircraft available, particularly noted for its fuel efficiency.

Discover Airlines Focuses on A350
By 2026, Discover Airlines plans to bolster its long-haul fleet with 16 Airbus A330-300 aircraft. This addition will consist of five A330-300s that will replace three retiring A330-200s, resulting in enhanced fuel economy and better passenger comfort.
This strategy aligns with the airline’s objective of optimizing fleet uniformity for greater operational efficiency.
Starting from 2027, the Airbus A350-900 integration will further strengthen the airline’s long-haul operations.
These new aircraft may initially serve existing routes, including Windhoek (WDH) and Orlando (MCO). With their extended range, A350s will open possibilities for new destinations in South and Central America, southern Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Expansion in Short-Haul Flights
Discover Airlines isn’t solely concentrating on long-haul travel. The airline’s short- and medium-haul networks are set to experience noteworthy growth.
Currently equipped with 16 Airbus A320s, the airline serves popular vacation spots across Europe and North Africa. They plan to add two more A320s in 2026 and two more by mid-2028, boosting the total to 20 aircraft.
This increase will enhance Discover Airlines’ presence in leisure markets and improve the connectivity between European hubs and holiday destinations. This expansion aligns with the carrier’s objective of providing seamless travel experiences within the Lufthansa Group’s network.

Dedication to Passenger Comfort
Beginning in 2027, Discover Airlines will introduce new-generation cabin enhancements across its Airbus A330 fleet in all three travel classes. These upgrades will include improved seating, enhanced in-flight entertainment options, and a modern cabin ambiance.
This initiative underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing passenger comfort and delivering a premium leisure travel experience.
The forthcoming A350-900s will further elevate this commitment, offering quieter operations, superior air quality, and increased humidity for long-haul travelers. Additionally, the A350’s emphasis on lower fuel burn and reduced emissions contributes to Lufthansa Group’s broader sustainability goals.

Bernd Bauer, the CEO of Discover Airlines, indicated that this fleet expansion is pivotal for the airline’s progression.
He noted that the addition of the Airbus A350 would enable Discover Airlines to provide “more comfort and appealing options” for passengers, reinforcing the Lufthansa Group’s strength in the leisure travel market.
Bauer emphasized that the extra aircraft and increased range would facilitate the airline’s ability to cater to the heightened demand for quality vacation travel.
