Qatar Airways Debuts First Flight from Doha to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea
Qatar Airways has initiated three weekly non-stop flights between Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha and Red Sea International Airport (RSI) in Saudi Arabia. This new route highlights the airline’s commitment to expanding its network in the region.
With the addition of the Red Sea, Qatar Airways now connects eleven destinations across Saudi Arabia. Established routes include Abha, AlUla, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, NEOM, Qassim, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu. This expansion reinforces the airline’s foothold in the Saudi market, enhancing its vast network of over 170 destinations worldwide.
The inaugural flight was celebrated on October 21, 2025, with a special reception at RSI Airport. The Qatar Airways delegation included prominent figures such as Abdullah Al Malki, Senior Vice President of Business Control and Financial Support, and Sheikh Jassim bin Fahad Al-Thani, Head of Aeropolitical & Regulatory Affairs.
A significant moment was shared via social media, noting the launch of these flights, which are now seen as an essential addition to the Middle Eastern travel landscape.
The delegation was graciously received by John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, the mastermind behind the development of the Red Sea destination and the airport, along with Andrew Tyler-Smith, CEO of Red Sea International Airport.
The Red Sea region, nestled between Umluj and Al Wajh, is rapidly emerging as a prime tourist hotspot. It offers breathtaking views of 90 islands, vibrant coral reefs, magnificent desert landscapes, and expansive volcanic mountains, making it one of the largest marine ecosystems worldwide.
Flights to the Red Sea follow this schedule:
- Flight QR 1226: Departing from Doha at 07:45, arriving in Red Sea at 10:45 local time.
- Flight QR 1227: Departing from Red Sea at 11:45, arriving in Doha at 14:15 local time.
Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways’ Group Chief Executive Officer, expressed pride in expanding the airline’s global network. He emphasized the significance of the Saudi market, showcasing a growing commitment to the country and enhancing travel possibilities to one of the Middle East’s emerging tourist destinations.
