American Airlines Reinstates New York Flights to High-Risk Destination

FORT WORTH— American Airlines (AA) is all set to resume its non-stop flights from New York (JFK) to Tel Aviv (TLV), beginning on March 28, 2026. This move comes over two years after services were suspended due to the Hamas attacks that occurred in October 2023.

The daily flights will utilize a Boeing 777-200, signifying a careful yet meaningful return. Tickets will be available for purchase starting on October 27, 2025, with the flight designated as AA18, a special reference to the Hebrew word chai, which means “life.”

Israel’s Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, made an appeal to American Airlines executives during her visit to the U.S., urging for the route’s restoration. This request played a role in expediting the decision, as American had already been exploring the optimal timing for its return, taking into account both demand and safety.

Hints of the airline’s comeback surfaced when it sought new flight attendants proficient in Hebrew, a move interpreted by industry insiders as a precursor to a Tel Aviv announcement.
