Cebu Pacific Secures A320 Lease from Bulgaria Air for Busy Season

Cebu Pacific, the leading budget airline in the Philippines, is enhancing its fleet capacity for the upcoming holiday season by acquiring two Airbus A320 aircraft from Bulgaria Air through a damp lease agreement.

In this arrangement, Bulgaria Air will provide the aircraft, pilots, maintenance, and insurance, while Cebu Pacific will utilize its own cabin crew for the flights.

This major Philippine airline plans to deploy the two 180-seat A320ceo jets on four popular domestic routes operated from Manila International Airport (MNL): Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, and Cagayan de Oro.

The aircraft are set to be operational from December 2025 through January 2026 to accommodate the peak travel season in the Philippines.

Meeting Strong Holiday Demand

Xander Lao, President and Chief Commercial Officer of Cebu Pacific, noted that this strategy reflects the airline’s proactive approach to managing capacity.

“We are continuously exploring ways to expand our fleet and ensure operational resilience,” Lao stated. “Our damp lease agreement with Bulgaria Air will enable us to meet the strong travel demand from December 2025 to January 2026.”

Bulgaria Air is known for its modern fleet and dependable service, making this partnership beneficial for Cebu Pacific. It allows the airline to quickly ramp up capacity without the long-term commitment required for purchasing or leasing additional aircraft.

Growing Partnership Between the Carriers

Hristo Todorov, Chairman of the Management Board of Bulgarian Airways Group, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Cebu Pacific.

The short-term lease arrangement provides Cebu Pacific the agility to respond to seasonal demand surges without overstretching resources during the quieter months later in the year.
