Millions, Including 700K Students, Face Possible Canada Exit in 2025
Canada is preparing for a surge in temporary permit expirations, with nearly five million permits set to lapse by the end of 2025, according to Immigration Minister Marc Miller. Protests have erupted among Punjab-origin students in Brampton over these shifting policies, as competition for permanent residency intensifies. Critics, including Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, argue the government has failed to address housing shortages and support temporary residents adequately.
