On December 23, 2025, Riyadh Air celebrated a key achievement as its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner successfully embarked on its inaugural test flight from Boeing’s facility in Charleston, South Carolina.
Beginning of the Test Program
This flight, known as B1 Flight, marks the launch of an extensive testing phase to be conducted across the United States. The aircraft was piloted by Boeing’s experienced test pilots as part of the required certification processes.
Once the full test program is complete and the necessary certifications are obtained, Riyadh Air will enter the next stage. Here, the airline’s own pilots will perform further tests before the aircraft is officially handed over to the airline.
