IndiGo Announces Launch Date for Mumbai-Copenhagen Route
IndiGo’s European expansion is charging ahead with new developments. Just a day after announcing Athens as its inaugural European destination for the Airbus A321XLR, the Indian low-cost airline shared exciting news about another city in Europe.
On September 16, 2025, IndiGo revealed that it will start a thrice-weekly service connecting Mumbai (BOM) to Copenhagen (CPH) on October 8, 2025.
Copenhagen as a Destination
Earlier this year, Copenhagen was identified as one of the first locations IndiGo considered for their initial European operations. This capital city will mark a significant addition to the airline’s route map, becoming the 44th international destination and the 138th overall.
No Delays on the Danish Route
In contrast to the Athens route, which requires the new A321XLR aircraft, IndiGo will launch its Copenhagen service without delays. The flights will utilize one of the Boeing 787-9s leased from Norse Atlantic Airways.
Competitive Landscape
Starting June 2, 2026, IndiGo will face competition on this route from Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), which is set to introduce its own five-weekly nonstop service between Copenhagen and Mumbai. SAS will utilize Airbus A330 aircraft, offering a total of 262 seats, divided into business, SAS Plus, and economy class.
This expansion showcases IndiGo’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between India and Europe. Are you excited about these new travel options?
