Qantas Introduces New 737 Flights from Darwin to Singapore
Qantas Launches New Darwin to Singapore Flights: A Gateway to Europe
Qantas Airways has officially launched its inaugural Darwin (DRW) to Singapore (SIN) flights on March 30, 2025, providing a significant new international route from Australia’s Northern Territory. This exciting development adds over 70,000 seats to the travel market and creates a streamlined one-stop option for travelers heading to Europe via Singapore.
With this new service, Qantas strengthens its presence in the Northern Territory, connecting Darwin to Singapore in just under five hours. This route not only simplifies international travel for visitors but also enhances trade ties, aligning with the airline’s broader strategy to increase capacity by 180,000 seats in the region this year.
Qantas’ New Darwin to Singapore Service
The new Darwin-Singapore flights operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, utilizing the efficient Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which features 12 Business Class and 162 Economy Class seats.
Key Flight Details:
- Schedule: Four weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday)
- Flight Numbers: QF113 (DRW-SIN) and QF114 (SIN-DRW)
- Duration: Approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes
- Aircraft Type: Boeing 737-800 (12 Business, 162 Economy seats)

Flight QF113 departs Darwin at 14:55, arriving in Singapore at 18:15. The return flight, QF114, leaves Singapore at 19:20 and arrives back in Darwin at 01:40 the next day. This schedule is designed to connect seamlessly with Qantas’ A380 flights from Singapore to London, providing Territorians with one of the fastest routes to Europe.
For international tourists, this direct flight eliminates the need for layovers in other Australian cities, significantly reducing travel time to the Northern Territory.
Special Launch Fare and Benefits
To celebrate the launch, Qantas is offering return Economy fares starting from $519, available until 11:59 PM on April 2, 2025. These fares include checked baggage, meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment. Additionally, Qantas Frequent Flyers can redeem Classic or Classic Plus seats using points. Eligible travelers will also gain access to the Qantas Club in Darwin and premium lounges at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
CEO International Cam Wallace highlighted the importance of this route in facilitating seamless travel between Asia and Europe, enhancing tourism, and fostering stronger trade relations between Australia and Singapore.
A Historical Connection
The Darwin-Singapore route has a rich history, dating back to May 1935 when Darwin was the final Australian stop on the original Kangaroo Route to London. At that time, the journey required five stops and took over four days. By 1979, Qantas Flight QF1 made weekly stops in Darwin using a Boeing 732, with the last direct flight taking place in June 2006. The relaunch of this service in 2025 marks a significant revival of a vital travel link.
Today’s flights, equipped with modern Boeing 737-800s, reflect Qantas’ commitment to enhancing travel efficiency and comfort for passengers.
A Warm Welcome from Singapore
Oliver Chong, Executive Director of the Singapore Tourism Board, expressed excitement about the new route: “With Singapore just under five hours away, this service is perfect for quick getaways or as a stopover on the way to Europe. The timing is ideal for visitors looking to explore our vibrant city, with its world-class dining, shopping, and attractions like Rainforest Wild Asia.”
With this latest launch, Qantas is reinforcing Darwin’s role as a crucial link in its global network, ensuring better access to international markets and travel destinations.
