WestJet Unveils Summer 2025 Schedule with Expanded Network and New Routes
CALGARY – WestJet Airlines (WS) has officially announced its summer 2025 flight schedule, revealing an impressive network growth of 10%, which includes a 12% increase in domestic routes. This expansion aims to make air travel more accessible and affordable for Canadians by introducing 11 new routes and boosting capacity in key markets.
New Domestic and Transborder Routes
As part of its commitment to enhancing travel options, WestJet is launching two new domestic routes and three transborder destinations for summer 2025. The domestic additions include two returning routes from Calgary:
- Calgary–Sudbury: Service begins on June 12, 2025, operating twice weekly until October 19.
- Calgary–Sydney: Launching on June 10, 2025, with twice weekly flights until October 18.
In addition, the airline will introduce the following transborder routes:
- Calgary–Raleigh-Durham: 3 times weekly from June 9 to October 13.
- Calgary–Anchorage: 2 times weekly from June 29 to September 7.
- Calgary–Minneapolis: 4 times weekly from May 16 to September 3.
- Edmonton–Salt Lake City: 5 times weekly from May 15 to October 24.
- Edmonton–Chicago: 3 times weekly from June 4 to October 22.
- Vancouver–Boston: Daily service starting June 9 through October 13.
- Vancouver–Tampa: Once weekly from June 14 to October 25.
- Winnipeg–Orlando: Year-round service.
- Kelowna–Seattle: Year-round service.
Increased Capacity Across Canadian Airports
Alongside new routes, WestJet is significantly increasing capacity at 10 Canadian airports compared to summer 2024. Key highlights of this capacity expansion include:
- Montreal: +31%
- Ottawa: +36%
- Edmonton: +23%
- Regina: +23%
- Winnipeg: +19%
Calgary, serving as WestJet’s primary hub, will experience an 11% growth in capacity, positioning it as the launchpad for many of the new routes.
Strengthening Network Growth
WestJet aims to operate over 3,000 weekly departures across 41 Canadian airports in the upcoming summer season. The introduction of new domestic and international destinations, coupled with increased frequencies on existing routes, is designed to provide travelers with more options.
