Avelo Airlines Expands Operations in Connecticut with New Nonstop Routes

CONNECTICUT – Avelo Airlines (XP) is set to enhance its presence in Connecticut by launching five new nonstop routes, significantly increasing travel options for residents. This expansion includes four new destinations from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and a third international route from Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford. With low introductory fares starting at just $39, Avelo is making air travel more accessible for Connecticut residents.

New Nonstop Routes from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN)

Starting in February 2025, Avelo Airlines will introduce new flights from HVN to exciting destinations:

  • Jacksonville, FL (JAX): Launching February 14, with service on Fridays and Mondays.
  • Dallas-Fort Worth, TX (DFW): Starting March 7, with flights on Fridays and Mondays.
  • Detroit, MI (DTW): Seasonal service will begin on April 4, operating twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays.
  • Portland, ME (PWM): Seasonal flights commence on May 22, available on Thursdays and Sundays.

With these new routes, Avelo will increase HVN’s total destinations to 31, solidifying its status as the airline’s largest base.

International Expansion from Bradley International Airport (BDL)

In addition to domestic flights, Avelo is expanding its international offerings from BDL. Starting February 21, 2025, the airline will introduce a new seasonal route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ). This route will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays, complementing existing services to Cancun, Mexico (CUN), and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).

To support this expansion, Avelo will base a seventh Boeing 737-800 aircraft at HVN, joining the eight planes already dedicated to operations in Connecticut. This move underscores Avelo’s commitment to serving the state, with half of its 20 aircraft now focused on Connecticut routes.
