This anticipated acquisition could be announced within weeks, as reported by Reuters. Flyadeal has been eyeing the A330-900 after previously considering the Boeing 737 MAX 9, signifying a strategic shift towards enhanced long-haul capabilities.
Flyadeal’s Ambitious Plans for Widebody Aircraft
During the recent Routes 2024 event in Bahrain, Flyadeal’s CEO, Steven Greenaway, affirmed the airline’s commitment to expanding its fleet with widebody aircraft by the end of 2024. The new Airbus A330neos are expected to feature a premium cabin alongside a high-density economy layout, catering to the growing demand for affordable travel options on longer routes.
Recent Developments in Flyadeal’s Fleet Expansion
- In June 2024, reports emerged indicating that the Saudia Group was in discussions with both Boeing and Airbus regarding new widebody aircraft orders.
- Prior to this, Flyadeal confirmed an order in May 2024 at the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh for 12 Airbus A320neos and 93 A321neo aircraft.
According to ch-aviation, Flyadeal plans to incorporate 18 A320neos and 39 A321neos from its total order of 105 aircraft into its fleet.
