In a significant milestone for the airline industry, ITA Airways (AZ) has received official approval to integrate into Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance. This decision, made by the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board, marks a transformative step for ITA Airways as it builds on its recent induction into the Lufthansa Group. With Star Alliance offering an impressive 17,500 daily flights to over 1,150 airports globally, this integration promises to enhance travel connectivity for passengers.
Integration Benefits for ITA Airways and Star Alliance
As ITA Airways joins the Star Alliance network, it will contribute 360 daily flights, significantly boosting the alliance’s coverage in Europe. The integration will primarily enhance services in key Italian cities such as Rome (FCO) and Milan (MXP), which are already served by 16 existing Star Alliance members.

Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias announced that ITA Airways is expected to become a full member by early 2026.
