Maiden Flight of the First Swiss A350-900 in Unique Livery
The inaugural flight of the first Airbus A350-900 for SWISS took place on August 6, 2025.
This aircraft, temporarily registered as F-WZHI (the final Swiss registration, HB-IFA, will be assigned upon delivery), took off at 11:27 AM from the Airbus facility in Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS).
During its multi-hour test flight, the plane navigated over various regions of Western and Central France and crossed the Atlantic Ocean to reach the English Channel.
Officially named “Lausanne,” in honor of the city by Lake Leman, this aircraft showcases a vibrant design known as the “Wanderlust” special livery.
The Wanderlust livery, revealed to the public on June 24, 2025, features a rich array of designs influenced by Swiss identity, natural landscapes, and cultural elements. The airline has described it as a heartfelt tribute to Switzerland.
SWISS has made an order for a total of 10 Airbus A350-900s, with deliveries slated between October 2025 and 2031.
Each of these aircraft will be equipped with the airline’s latest ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin, promising an enhanced travel experience.
