Lufthansa is set to resume its direct flights from Munich to Riyadh, marking a significant return since the route was halted in 2017. This relaunch reflects the airline’s commitment to connecting major destinations.

A New Chapter in Travel

Starting on October 26, 2025, Lufthansa will operate flights three times weekly using the advanced Airbus A350-900. This announcement was made on August 11, 2025, coinciding with the airline’s celebration of its 65th anniversary of service to Saudi Arabia.

Flight Schedule Details

The flights will leave Munich at 21:45, arriving in Riyadh at 04:50 local time the next day. Return journeys from Riyadh will depart at 06:25 and reach Munich by 10:25. Passengers can look forward to an ideal schedule for connecting to Lufthansa’s extensive global network.

Modern Aircraft Experience

According to a spokesperson for Lufthansa, “This offers passengers seamless connections via the Munich hub. The Airbus A350-900 is one of the most modern long-haul aircraft, featuring 293 seats across three classes.”

Increased Connectivity to the Middle East

Lufthansa Group plans to enhance connectivity to the Middle East, offering 120 weekly flights to various destinations. Alongside Lufthansa, Eurowings and ITA Airways will also provide services to Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah. Together, these airlines will facilitate 22 weekly departures to Saudi Arabia.

Reasons for the Relaunch

Riyadh, with its vibrant population of eight million, boasts numerous universities, museums, and historical monuments, making it an appealing destination. Lufthansa highlights Riyadh’s potential, noting that the city will host significant events like the annual “Riyadh Season,” Saudi Arabia’s largest festival, and the World Expo in 2030, followed by the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2034.
