Air India Express Cancels Bengaluru Flight Due to Bird Strike Incident

BENGALURU- A recent Air India Express (IX) flight to Bengaluru (BLR) faced cancellation on Thursday due to a bird strike that occurred during taxiing.

The incident involved an eagle colliding with the aircraft’s nose while it was preparing for takeoff. Consequently, the airline confirmed the cancellation and arranged alternate travel plans for the affected passengers.

Air India Express Cancels Flights

This incident happened just before the aircraft was scheduled to depart from Vijayawada (VGA) to Bengaluru (BLR). Following standard safety protocols, the airline grounded the aircraft to ensure the safety of its passengers.

Air India Express (IX) notified that engineers were dispatched to assess the aircraft for any damage, in compliance with aviation safety regulations. The flight wasn’t cleared to proceed until a thorough inspection had been conducted.

While the cancellation resulted in some delays, passengers were either rebooked on later flights or provided other travel options.

Recent Technical Snags Affecting Air India Express

This cancellation adds to recent operational disruptions. Just a day prior, an Air India Express flight scheduled to leave from Tiruchirappalli (TRZ) airport to Sharjah (SHJ) at 4:45 am encountered a technical issue.

While engineers addressed the problem, 176 passengers were left waiting for hours before being safely deboarded.

The airport authorities confirmed that the delay stemmed from a technical snag, and the airline successfully arranged alternative travel solutions for those affected. This situation emphasizes the need for immediate technical teams to minimize delays.

Previous Operational Disruptions

Air India (AI) has also faced challenges recently. On August 17, a flight (AI 504) from Kochi (COK) to Delhi (DEL) had to abort takeoff due to a technical issue.

The aircraft was halted during taxiing, and all passengers were moved to a different aircraft to continue their journey.

The airline reassured that safety protocols were strictly followed and that all necessary support was provided on the ground.
