Air India Express Debuts Flights at Navi Mumbai Airport This Christmas
Air India Express, a budget-friendly offshoot of Air India, is poised to be among the first airlines to launch services from the newly established Navi Mumbai International Airport.
In a post on X dated November 21, 2025, the airline revealed plans for daily flights to Bengaluru and Delhi, set to commence on December 25, 2025—the airport’s opening day.
Flights to Delhi will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Starting January 1, 2026, Air India Express will enhance its offerings by increasing services to twice daily on both routes.
The airline outlined its commitment to offering a diverse range of services from Mumbai and Pune. From December 1, 2025, it will also introduce flights to Nagpur from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport (NAG), broadening its network within Maharashtra just ahead of the Navi Mumbai Airport’s launch.
“We are excited to collaborate with the airport as it enhances capacity for Mumbai and its surrounding areas, putting one of India’s major transport hubs on a path of rapid expansion,” stated Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, in a release reported by The Times of India.
While Air India Express aims to be a pioneer in flights from the new airport, several other Indian airlines have also confirmed inaugural services on the airport’s first operational day.
In November 2025, Akasa Air announced its intention to begin flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport to four cities within India, starting December 25, 2025. Similarly, IndiGo stated its plans to start commercial operations from the new airport on the same date.
Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8, 2025.
The first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport was developed at an estimated cost of around Rs. 19,650 crores ($2.37 billion) and is designed to ultimately accommodate 90 million passengers annually while managing 3.25 million metric tons of cargo.
