Boeing Shuts 787 Repair Plant, Shifts Focus to 777X

Although these gaps did not compromise safety, they delayed deliveries and required extensive labor from mechanics. With repairs finished, mechanics will transition to the 777/777X program, allowing Boeing to focus on new aircraft production. However, challenges remain, including a backlog of unfinished 787s linked to parts shortages. Airbus Probes A220 Corrosion; Delta Conducts Inspections
Airbus has revealed that some A220 passenger jets are facing corrosion issues, affecting a limited number of aircraft operated by U.S. airlines, though there are no immediate safety risks. Regular maintenance checks are being conducted to address the problem, which has been found on components like passenger seat fittings and wing parts, particularly the wing-to-body fairing. The FAA is overseeing the situation. Airlines such as Delta, JetBlue, and Breeze Airways are actively managing corrosion concerns, ensuring safety and reliability. The A220, developed as the Bombardier C-Series, has previously encountered similar corrosion issues, emphasizing the importance of ongoing inspections and maintenance.
JetBlue Launches New A321LR Flights from Boston to Madrid and Edinburgh
JetBlue Airways will expand its European network with new seasonal nonstop flights from Boston Logan International Airport to Madrid and Edinburgh, starting May 22, 2025. This marks JetBlue’s first route to Spain and enhances direct travel options to both vibrant cities. The daily flights to Madrid will connect Boston with Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, while the Edinburgh route complements existing services from New York’s JFK. São Paulo will see an increase from 14 to 17 weekly flights beginning June 25, 2025. This expansion enhances connectivity for travelers from regions like the Far East and Australia. KLM Expands: New Long-Haul Destinations Announced
