JetBlue Reveals New A320 Design Celebrating Iconic Puerto Rico
On October 5, 2025, JetBlue, a prominent US carrier, introduced an eye-catching livery on one of its Airbus A320s. Dubbed ‘Isla del Bluencanto,’ this vibrant design was crafted by Puerto Rican artist Juan Gutiérrez Rovira, also known as The Stencil Network.
The design emerged from a public vote held in March 2025, with its bold aesthetics celebrating the rich culture of Puerto Rico and its significant heritage. JetBlue stands as the largest airline bringing passengers to Puerto Rico annually.
According to a statement from JetBlue, the name Isla del Bluencanto merges Puerto Rico’s beloved nickname, Isla del Encanto, with the JetBlue brand, highlighting the cherished relationship between the island and the airline. The aircraft’s unveiling took place at The Flight Park in San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), where local community members and JetBlue staff gathered to honor this colorful homage to the island.
Details About the Iconic Livery
The Isla del Bluencanto livery features prominent cultural symbols and serves as a tribute to the island’s people, including many JetBlue crew members. The design aims to create a visual link between Puerto Rico and its diaspora across the JetBlue network.
Central to the design is the iconic jíbaro figure, which graces the tail of the plane. This imagery embodies the nobility and resilience of Puerto Rico’s rural heritage. The jíbaro, depicted with its harvest, symbolizes the shared values that unite Puerto Ricans through both celebrations and challenges.
Surrounding this central figure are lively illustrations of Puerto Rico’s tropical fruits and indigenous flora, capturing the island’s warmth, vibrancy, and biodiversity. These elements not only add movement but also reflect the joy and rhythm inherent in Puerto Rican culture.
Additionally, the phrase “Somos Boricua” (“We are Puerto Rico”) is boldly displayed on the aircraft’s belly. This serves as a declaration of identity, unity, and pride that resonates with onlookers as the plane soars through the skies.
“Designing Isla del Bluencanto has been a remarkable honor,” Gutiérrez remarked. “This design, inspired by Puerto Rico, is my tribute to the island of my upbringing. The imagery of the jíbaro, fruits, and flowers was chosen to showcase our culture’s richness and pride.”
“The phrase ‘Somos Boricua’ along with our flag expresses our identity unequivocally. My hope is that this aircraft becomes a living symbol of Puerto Rico.”
