Air India Express Expands Connectivity with New Flights from Mangalore

Air India Express (AIX), India’s prominent budget carrier, is set to enhance its domestic flight offerings by launching new non-stop flights from Mangalore (IXE) to Delhi (DEL) and additional services to Mumbai (BOM). These flights are scheduled to commence in February 2025, significantly boosting Air India Express’s connectivity from Mangalore. As a result, the airline will serve a total of 13 destinations from this key coastal city.

Air India Express Mangalore Flights: Schedule and Details

Starting February 1, 2025, Air India Express will operate daily flights to Delhi from Mangalore, utilizing the efficient B737 MAX-8 aircraft.

  • Delhi Flight Schedule:
    • Flight IX 2768: Departs Delhi at 06:40 AM IST, arriving in Mangalore at 09:35 AM IST.
    • Flight IX 1552: Departs Mangalore at 06:40 AM IST, arriving in Delhi at 09:35 AM IST.
    • Flight duration for both: 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Additionally, Air India Express will introduce a new flight to Mumbai starting February 15, 2025. The airline will transfer its current morning flights from Air India to Air India Express, ensuring seamless service for travelers.

  • Mumbai Flight Schedule:
    • Flight IX 1233: Departs Mumbai at 05:45 AM IST, arriving in Mangalore at 07:15 AM IST (1 hour and 30 minutes flight time).
    • Return Flight IX 1236: Leaves Mangalore at 07:55 AM IST, reaching Mumbai at 09:50 AM IST (1 hour and 55 minutes flight time).

Air India Express’s Strong Presence in Mangalore

Mangalore, a vital city in Karnataka, boasts a vibrant economy and is a hub for educational institutions and international connections. Currently, Air India Express connects Mangalore to eight international destinations in the Middle East, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, catering primarily to the expatriate community.

As Air India Express expands its offerings, it faces stiff competition from IndiGo Airlines (6E), which operates three daily flights from Mumbai to Mangalore. The strategic shift of the Mumbai-Mangalore flights to Air India Express reflects the airline’s efforts to maintain its competitive edge in the market. Currently, IndiGo operates a daily flight to Delhi but has limited Gulf destination options.

Despite the competition, Air India Express remains a critical player for international flights from Mangalore, as it continues to serve destinations in the Gulf region while also preparing to introduce services to Singapore.
