Emirates Launches Daily Retrofitted 777 Flight to Melbourne

Emirates Expands Australian Connectivity with New Non-Stop Flight to Melbourne

Dubai’s flagship airline, Emirates (EK), is enhancing its Australian connectivity by launching a third non-stop flight between Dubai (DXB) and Melbourne (MEL), starting 30 March 2025. This strategic expansion aims to provide travelers with more options and flexibility, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to the Australian market.

New Emirates Melbourne Flight Schedule

The introduction of this new service will utilize a fully refurbished Boeing 777-300ER, featuring the latest innovations in Premium Economy and Business Class. Currently, Emirates operates two daily non-stop flights on Airbus A380s and one connecting flight through Singapore. However, the airline plans to discontinue its Singapore-Melbourne route, replacing it with this direct third flight to optimize its Melbourne operations.

Flight Details

  • Outbound Flight EK404:

    • Departure: Dubai at 21:15 hours
    • Arrival: Melbourne at 17:40 hours the following day
  • Return Flight EK405:

Regaining UAE-Australian Market Share

Emirates is committed to expanding its operations in Australia, reinstating services to Perth and Adelaide, and now operating a total of 77 weekly flights across five major Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. The reinstated Perth service, effective 1 December, will increase global connectivity with nearly 12,000 weekly seats available.

The Adelaide route, which resumed on 28 October, further strengthens Emirates’ Australian network and promotes international tourism and business investment.

Strategic Partnership with Qantas

Emirates’ relationship with Australia goes beyond flight operations. The airline has invested $230 million in sponsorships across various sectors, including sports and the arts. Furthermore, a recent Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the UAE and Australia signifies a pivotal point in bilateral relations, enabling Emirates to transport over 2,350 tonnes of cargo weekly.

Additionally, the 10-year codeshare partnership with Qantas (QF) extends the airline’s reach, allowing access to over 120 codeshare destinations, including 60 points across Australia and New Zealand.

As Emirates continues to enhance its services, travelers can look forward to a more connected and comfortable journey.
