Norwegian Airlines Expands Its Summer Routes for 2025: New Destinations from the UK
Norwegian Airlines has exciting news for travelers as it gears up to launch 17 new routes for the northern summer of 2025. Among these, the budget airline will introduce three new routes from the UK, expanding its already extensive network. This expansion will increase Norwegian’s total operations to 344 individual routes, connecting 128 destinations across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East during the peak summer season.
The new routes from the UK will enhance Norwegian’s offerings, adding two additional services from its existing hub at London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) and welcoming Newcastle Airport (NCL) as a new destination. Currently, Norwegian operates 21 routes from the UK to 15 destinations in five countries. The airline’s new routes will also extend from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Latvia to various popular European locations, appealing to travelers seeking fresh summer getaways.
Key New Routes from the UK
Starting from March 30, 2025, Norwegian will operate a new service from Gatwick to Riga (RIX) in Latvia. This route will initially offer flights twice weekly, with plans to increase to three times a week later in the summer. Following this, on April 11, 2025, the airline will introduce twice-weekly flights from Gatwick to Ålesund-Vigra Airport (AES) in Norway. Lastly, beginning May 2, 2024, Newcastle will connect with Copenhagen, Denmark, with twice-weekly services.

Norwegian’s summer program for 2025 will showcase an impressive 344 routes across five Nordic countries in addition to the UK. This includes:
- Norway: 167 routes
- Denmark: 86 routes
- Sweden: 71 routes
- Finland: 25 routes
- Latvia: 8 routes
The airline operates both summer and winter programs, with the summer season running from late March through October. Currently, its winter program includes 170 routes to 76 destinations.
Fleet and Passenger Statistics
According to ch-aviation, Norwegian’s fleet consists of 132 aircraft, including 63 Boeing 737-800s, 22 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, and various regional aircraft operated by its subsidiary, Widerøe. In November 2024, Norwegian carried 1,531,361 passengers, while Widerøe serviced 326,041, totaling 1,857,402 for the airline group. Notably, Norwegian’s capacity increased by 28% over the same month in 2023, demonstrating the airline’s growing popularity.
The average sector length for Norwegian also rose by 17% compared to November 2023, as the airline’s network expanded to incorporate more routes to sunny winter destinations and several arctic tourism spots.
