Air India Announces New 2025 Flights to Dallas, LA, Manila, Jakarta
Air India Expands Global Reach: New Destinations Set for 2025
GURUGRAM – Air India, the flagship carrier owned by the Tata Group, is gearing up to enhance its international footprint with new destinations in 2025. Among the anticipated routes are Dallas (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Manila (MNL), and Jakarta (CGK). As global travel demand surges, Air India’s strategic expansion reflects its commitment to connecting India with key international hubs.
Air India’s New International Destinations in 2025
Sources familiar with the airline’s plans have confirmed to BusinessLine that Air India aims to launch flights to five new international destinations in 2025. This expansion will complement its existing network of 45 international destinations. The targeted cities include:
- Dallas (DFW)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Manila (MNL)
- Jakarta (CGK)
An additional destination is still in the development phase and will be announced once details are finalized.
Despite facing supply chain challenges that impact fleet expansion, Air India remains optimistic about aircraft deliveries, which are crucial for launching these new routes. Flights to Manila and Jakarta are expected to begin in early 2025, while services to Dallas and Los Angeles will follow later in the year.
Challenges and Opportunities in Route Expansion
Air India’s ambitious growth strategy has encountered hurdles due to recent Boeing manufacturing strikes. However, Campbell Wilson, Managing Director & CEO of Air India Group, emphasizes that the airline’s expansion will adapt to these challenges. The demand for international travel has surged since the Tata Group took control in 2022, resulting in Air India doubling its international capacity.
Analysis of Potential Routes
Air India is strategically developing three key hubs in India. The existing Delhi Hub (DEL) will be fortified in 2025, while plans for enhancing the Mumbai (BOM) and Bengaluru (BLR) hubs are underway, particularly with Bengaluru’s potential for tapping into unserved markets.
Based on current developments, Air India is poised to launch non-stop flights from Delhi to:
- Dallas (DFW)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Manila (MNL)
- Jakarta (CGK)
Additionally, flights from Mumbai to Manila and Jakarta are also under consideration.
Potential Routes Overview
| From | To | Distance |
|---|---|---|
| DEL | DFW | 8,186 mi |
| DEL | LAX | 8,013 mi |
| DEL | MNL | 2,968 mi |
| DEL | CGK | 3,093 mi |
| BOM | MNL | 3,196 mi |
| BOM | CGK | 2,882 mi |
Many of these routes are currently underserved, presenting a significant opportunity for Air India to establish a monopoly. The airline has already secured a dominant position on several long-haul routes, especially as some foreign carriers have scaled back direct flights due to geopolitical challenges, such as the closure of Russian airspace.
Looking Ahead
In addition to launching these new routes, Air India is exploring new international codeshare agreements and interline partnerships to bolster its global offerings in 2025.
