Delta Air Lines Updates Summer 2025 Flight Routes
Delta Air Lines Announces Major Changes to Summer 2025 Routes
ATLANTA – Delta Air Lines is making significant adjustments to its summer 2025 flight schedule, including the discontinuation of routes to Central America and the introduction of new domestic services. These changes are designed to align capacity with passenger demand and enhance the airline’s offerings on the West Coast.
Delta Cuts Central America Routes: What You Need to Know
Delta Air Lines will end its non-stop flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to two popular Central American destinations:
- San Salvador (SAL): The last flight from LAX to San Salvador will take off on May 4, 2025, with the return service concluding on May 5.
- Guatemala City (GUA): The final flight to GUA is scheduled for May 5, with the last return flight set for May 6.
According to Delta, these route cuts are part of a strategy to optimize their operations. While Delta will no longer serve these routes, travelers can still access connections to San Salvador and Guatemala City through other airlines, including Alaska Airlines, Avianca, United, and Volaris.
Delta will maintain connections to both destinations via its main hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
New Seasonal Route to Anchorage: Exciting News for Travelers
In an exciting development, Delta Air Lines will launch weekly non-stop flights between LAX and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) beginning May 24, 2025.
- Aircraft: The flights will be operated using the Boeing 737-900ER, featuring 20 first-class recliners and 27 Delta Comfort+ seats.
- Schedule: The service will run every Saturday until August 30, 2025, coinciding with the Labor Day weekend.
This new route marks Delta’s return to Anchorage after a hiatus since 2021, offering travelers an alternative to existing competition from Alaska Airlines.
Restoration of Las Vegas and San Jose Routes
Delta is also reviving its daily non-stop service between Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas and Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC), starting June 8, 2025.
- Aircraft: The route will be serviced by the Embraer 175, which accommodates 76 passengers under the Delta Connection brand.
This route was last operated in 2020 and will enhance competition on the LAS-SJC corridor, already served by airlines such as Alaska, Frontier, Spirit, United, and Southwest.
Conclusion: Adapting to Passenger Demand
Delta Air Lines’ summer 2025 route adjustments highlight the airline’s responsiveness to changing passenger needs. By cutting underperforming international routes and focusing on seasonal domestic markets, Delta aims to optimize its network and maintain competitive service.
