Starting today, February 3, 2025, the integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group is officially underway, marking a significant milestone that enhances travel options for passengers. With this merger, ITA Airways travelers can now enjoy the extensive benefits of Lufthansa Group’s frequent flyer programs, making their travel experience smoother and more rewarding.
Passengers flying with ITA Airways will have the opportunity to earn and redeem miles through Lufthansa’s Miles & More program, while Volare members can also benefit from earning points across all Lufthansa Group airlines. Starting March 30, 2025, ITA Airways will transition its operations to Lufthansa Group’s terminals in Frankfurt (Terminal 1) and Munich (Terminal 2). Additionally, travelers at key hubs such as Rome-Fiumicino and Milan-Linate will also have the advantage of shared terminals with Lufthansa Group carriers.

Moreover, ITA Airways passengers will gain access to the Lufthansa Group’s extensive lounge network, featuring over 130 lounges worldwide, enhancing their overall travel experience.

The integration will also lead to coordinated flight schedules between Lufthansa Group hubs and ITA Airways’ main airports in Rome and Milan. This synchronization aims to improve flexibility with better-connected flight options, ultimately reducing waiting times for long-haul travelers.
In an exciting development, ITA Airways is set to join the Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline network, expected in the first half of 2026. This membership will provide ITA Airways passengers with access to a broader range of global destinations and additional benefits within the alliance, as ITA Airways transitions out of the SkyTeam alliance.
