Air Serbia Welcomes New Airbus A330-200: A Symbol of EXPO 2027 Belgrade

Air Serbia is thrilled to announce the arrival of its latest Airbus A330-200, which landed at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) on February 10, 2025. This new addition to the fleet not only enhances Air Serbia’s capacity for long-haul flights but also showcases a unique EXPO 2027 Belgrade livery, reflecting the airline’s commitment to supporting the upcoming global exhibition.

This Airbus A330-200 is the fourth of its kind in Air Serbia’s fleet and the second to be adorned with the EXPO 2027 branding, following a similar aircraft’s arrival in October 2024. With registration YU-ARE, this jet previously served with Air Belgium and Etihad Airways and made its inaugural commercial flight in 2014.

Enhancing Air Serbia’s Long-Haul Network

Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, emphasized the significance of the new aircraft for the airline’s expansion goals. “Our new aircraft for long-haul flights is an important addition and will contribute to further expanding our network of destinations,” he stated. He further noted the airline’s strong support for the EXPO 2027 exhibition, which will take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027.

Passengers can look forward to increased comfort on their journeys to North America and China, thanks to the advanced features of the YU-ARE.

EXPO 2027: A Global Showcase

The EXPO, a prestigious global exhibition, aims to highlight tradition, culture, innovation, and science, with the 2027 theme being “Play for Humanity.” The incorporation of the EXPO 2027 logo on the new aircraft not only enhances Air Serbia’s branding but also symbolizes Serbia’s connection to the global community.

Dušan Borovčanin, CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, expressed pride in the aircraft’s visual identity, stating, “This aircraft, which will connect Belgrade with key international destinations, simultaneously carries a message about the importance of EXPO 2027 and contributes to its worldwide recognition.”

Impressive Specifications of the A330-200

The newly arrived Airbus A330-200 features:

  • Seating Configuration: 22 business class seats and 240 economy class seats
  • Engine: Powered by Rolls-Royce engines
  • Decorative Details: The aircraft was fitted with 270 decorative stickers over five days by a dedicated team of eight employees working in two shifts.

Current Fleet Expansion

With the addition of this A330-200, Air Serbia’s fleet now includes a total of four A330-200 aircraft, alongside 10 A319-100s, six A320-200s, three ATR 72-200s, and 10 ATR 72-600s, according to ch-aviation.
