Explore Wizz Air’s Innovative Cabin for Long-Range Jets
Wizz Air Unveils Innovative Cabin Design with New Airbus A321neo Aircraft
Wizz Air has officially welcomed its first Airbus A321neo featuring an exciting new cabin design, a significant upgrade that promises to enhance the passenger experience. This cutting-edge aircraft not only marks a milestone for the Hungarian low-cost airline but will also set the standard for future deliveries of both the A321neo and the long-range A321XLR models.
The centerpiece of this new cabin design is the Airbus Airspace Cabin, specifically crafted to improve comfort and overall travel experience. With the introduction of this modern design, Wizz Air aims to create a more enjoyable atmosphere for passengers from takeoff to landing.
Enhanced Passenger Experience with Innovative Features
On February 12, 2025, Wizz Air announced that its newly designed Airbus A321neo comes equipped with a state-of-the-art lighting system. This innovative feature offers multiple settings tailored to different phases of the flight, including boarding, dining, relaxing, and sleeping. According to a Wizz Air spokesperson, “These lighting schemes are designed to create a soothing and enjoyable atmosphere, ensuring a more pleasant journey for all passengers.”
Key Improvements in the A321neo Cabin:
- Redesigned Lavatories: The aircraft’s lavatories have been completely modernized, boasting a sleek aesthetic and advanced amenities.
- Spacious Overhead Compartments: The new cabin design includes larger overhead storage, providing passengers with extra room for their luggage and personal belongings.
- Accessibility Features: For visually impaired travelers, the cabin incorporates braille signage throughout, including row number indicators and lavatory signs.
Michael Delehant, Wizz Air’s Senior Chief Commercial and Operations Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the new cabin, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce the Airbus Airspace cabin to our fleet, setting a new standard for passenger experience at Wizz Air.” This revamped design underscores the airline’s commitment to providing an exceptional journey for all passengers.
Future of Wizz Air’s Fleet Expansion
Wizz Air already operates the A321neo, with a recent order of 75 more aircraft made in August 2023, raising its total order for this model to over 400. In addition, the airline is set to receive its first A321XLR within the next two months after ordering 44 of these long-range single-aisle aircraft.
The A321XLR, which made its debut at the Paris Air Show in 2019, has been hailed as a gamechanger in the aviation industry. With the capability to fly up to 4,700 nautical miles for durations of up to 11 hours, this aircraft allows airlines to offer non-stop long-haul services to destinations where demand does not justify the use of larger widebody jets.
Upcoming Routes with the A321XLR
Wizz Air’s CEO, József Váradi, announced exciting plans for the A321XLR, revealing that the inaugural route will connect London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, starting in March 2025. The A321XLR is expected to link major cities such as New York and Rome, London and Vancouver, and Sydney and Kuala Lumpur.
