Qatar Airways Expands Global Flight Network in Response to Rising Demand

Qatar Airways is set to bolster its global flight network significantly in 2025, responding to an increasing demand for international air travel. The Doha-based airline is enhancing its services across key destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, expanding its reach to over 170 global locations. With the addition of more flights, Qatar Airways aims to provide greater flexibility and seamless connections for passengers.

Increased Flight Frequencies to Major European Cities

As part of its expansion, Qatar Airways is ramping up flight frequencies to several major cities in Europe. Notable changes include:

  • Amsterdam: Increasing from 7 to 11 flights per week.
  • London Heathrow (LHR): Expanding from 49 to 56 weekly flights, which translates to 8 flights per day each way.
  • Madrid: Flights will rise from 14 to 17 weekly, enhancing its partnership with Oneworld partner Iberia from a total of 21 to 24 flights.
  • Larnaca, Cyprus: Increasing from 7 to 10 flights per week.

Expanding Services in Africa and the Middle East

In Africa and the Middle East, Qatar Airways is also increasing its flight operations:

  • Dar Es Salaam-Kilimanjaro: Services will grow from 3 to 7 weekly flights.
  • Entebbe: Increasing from 7 to 11 weekly flights.
  • Maputo/Durban: Rising from 5 flights per week to daily services.
  • Damascus, Syria: Operations will increase from 3 weekly flights to twice daily.
  • Tunis: Expanding from 10 to 12 weekly flights.
  • Sharjah: Flights will jump from 21 to 35 per week, offering 5 daily services in each direction.

Enhanced Connectivity in East Asia

Qatar Airways is also boosting its presence in East Asia. Flights from Doha to Tokyo-Narita Airport (NRT) will increase from 11 to 14 weekly flights, enhancing connectivity for travelers between the two regions.

Future Growth Plans

In line with its expansion strategy, Qatar Airways announced plans to place a sizable order for wide-body jets to support its long-term growth. Antinori confirmed, "Our CEO is working on a request for proposal (RFP) with aircraft manufacturers to place a significant order soon."
