Summer 2025 Flight Schedule Insights

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has projected a notable increase in domestic air travel for the upcoming summer season, forecasting a 5.5% rise in weekly flights. Indian airlines are expected to operate a total of 25,610 weekly flights across 129 airports, up from 24,275 weekly departures in the same period of 2024.

Despite this growth, the summer schedule indicates a modest 2% increase compared to the current winter season, primarily due to supply chain constraints and delays in aircraft deliveries affecting airlines’ expansion plans.

IndiGo Airlines continues to lead the market with 14,158 weekly departures, while Air India and Air India Express follow with 4,310 and 3,375 flights, respectively. In contrast, SpiceJet has experienced a significant reduction in slot allocations, with weekly departures decreasing from 1,657 to 1,240—a 25% drop.
