Philippine Airlines and Qatar Airways Launch Strategic Partnership for Manila-Doha Route

Philippine Airlines has officially announced a groundbreaking strategic partnership and codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways, coinciding with the launch of new daily nonstop flights from Manila to Doha. Set to commence on June 16, 2025, this collaboration aims to enhance connectivity for travelers from the Philippines heading to Qatar and beyond, creating a seamless travel experience across global destinations.

With the introduction of the Manila to Doha route, Qatar Airways will codeshare on the seven weekly flights operated by Philippine Airlines during the initial phase of this strategic cooperation. The daily flights are scheduled to depart Manila at 18:50 local time, arriving in Doha at 23:40 (Flight number PR684). Passengers will benefit from connections to over 170 destinations across the Qatar Airways network, covering regions such as Africa, the Americas, Central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Enhanced Connectivity for Travelers

Eastbound travelers arriving at Doha-Hamad International Airport (DOH) on Qatar Airways flights will have the option to connect to Philippine Airlines flight PR685. This flight departs daily from Doha at 01:30 and arrives at Manila-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) at 16:15, ensuring convenient travel options.

Strengthening Ties Between Qatar and the Philippines

Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, stating, "At Qatar Airways, we continue to explore opportunities that strengthen our connectivity across the world. Our latest partnership with Philippine Airlines is a testament to this commitment." He highlighted the importance of deepening socio-economic ties between the Qatari and Filipino communities while noting that the new codeshare flights will offer significant benefits to global travelers.

Philippine Airlines President and Chief Operating Officer, Captain Stanley K. Ng, also emphasized the importance of this partnership. "As Philippine Airlines expands its presence across the globe, we are delighted to forge new alliances that enable us to build new connections," he said. He further mentioned that the daily flights to Doha will stimulate tourism, trade, and business growth, particularly benefiting Overseas Filipino Workers and their families.

Future Collaborations on the Horizon

According to a statement from Qatar Airways, both airlines will explore additional opportunities for long-term collaboration. This could include promoting more destinations within their respective networks and enhancing frequent flyer cooperation.

Aircraft and Service Details

The new daily nonstop flights will be operated on Philippine Airlines’ long-range Airbus A330-300 aircraft, featuring a dual-class configuration. The aircraft includes 18 flat-bed seats in business class and 341 seats in the main economy class cabin. Philippine Airlines currently boasts an operational fleet of 11 A330-300 aircraft, each powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines and averaging 11.12 years in age.
