Vietjet and Qazaq Air Launch New Airline: Vietjet Qazaqstan

Vietjet Qazaqstan: A New Era in Low-Cost Air Travel Connecting Vietnam and Kazakhstan

In an exciting development for air travel, Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet Air has partnered with Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air to launch a new low-cost airline, Vietjet Qazaqstan. This strategic collaboration is set to revolutionize connectivity between Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and the broader Southeast Asian region, providing travelers with affordable flight options.

A Fleet of Modern Aircraft for Vietjet Qazaqstan

Vietjet Qazaqstan will operate a fleet comprising at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft. The new airline aims to enhance the existing Qazaq Air platform, establishing vital air links that will facilitate travel and trade between Kazakhstan and Vietnam. The announcement of this venture came during the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable on May 6, 2025, coinciding with Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam’s three-day state visit to Kazakhstan.

Strategic Partnership and Investment

The establishment of Vietjet Qazaqstan marks a significant milestone in Vietjet’s international expansion strategy. According to the airline, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance has granted a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate to Aviation Holdings, a subsidiary of Vietjet. This certificate permits the acquisition of a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air, bolstering the partnership’s foundation.

Vietjet stated, “This move aims to deepen bilateral ties between Vietnam and Kazakhstan across aviation, economic, and cultural domains.” This commitment underscores the importance of fostering connections between the two nations.

Comprehensive Support from Boeing

At the business roundtable, Vietjet Qazaqstan also signed a Customer Services General Terms Agreement with Boeing. This agreement ensures that the airline receives extensive support for its future B737 fleet. Boeing will provide a range of services, including:

  • Software solutions
  • Spare parts supply
  • Technical assistance
  • Training programs for pilots and engineers
  • Aircraft modifications and upgrades

Modern Operations and Future Goals

Vietjet Qazaqstan is set to adopt modern operating models, leveraging digital management systems and advanced training programs for its workforce. Vietjet will provide ongoing technical and operational support, ensuring the airline meets high standards in the competitive low-cost aviation market.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

During his visit to Kazakhstan, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan, which dates back to August 1959. This historical connection has paved the way for an upgraded strategic partnership agreement, enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

As Vietjet Qazaqstan prepares to take flight, it promises to not only offer affordable travel options but also to strengthen ties between two culturally rich nations.
