Qatar Airways Launches Its First US Lounge in JFK’s New Terminal One
Qatar Airways is set to inaugurate its first executive lounge in the United States as part of its transition to New Terminal One at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
Beginning August 18, 2025, the airline will shift operations from Terminal 8 to New Terminal One in 2026, accompanied by the unveiling of a spacious 15,000-square-foot Qatar Airways lounge at their new U.S. location.
Qatar Airways Group CEO, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming move, stating, “We are eager to start our operations at JFK Airport’s New Terminal One and to welcome our Business Class passengers to our first dedicated lounge in the U.S. Our sophisticated lounge will elevate the experience for travelers, aligning perfectly with our top-notch Business Class services.”
He went on to mention that premium passengers will enjoy unparalleled service features, including dedicated airport transfers and VIP check-in, in what promises to be a world-class travel experience at New Terminal One.
The forthcoming Qatar Airways lounge will boast direct access to boarding gates along with a variety of premium dining options. Additional amenities will include VIP check-in services, relaxation areas, prayer rooms, children’s play zones, and duty-free shopping experiences.
Jennifer Aument, CEO of New Terminal One, recently conveyed gratitude towards Qatar Airways for their partnership, stating, “We appreciate the trust Qatar Airways has placed in us as we embark on this exciting phase at JFK. Their association with New Terminal One highlights the immense value we provide to international carriers aiming to enhance their footprint in New York.”
New Terminal One plays a crucial role in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s ambitious $19 billion overhaul of JFK Airport.
Upon completion, this extensive transformation will introduce two new terminals, modernize and expand two existing ones, establish a new ground transportation center, and implement a streamlined roadway system.
Qatar Airways commenced its operations in New York in 2008 at Terminal 8. Currently, the airline connects the U.S. to 11 destinations, offering 18 flights every week.
What are your thoughts on the new lounge opening? Will you plan a visit once it launches?
