Finnair Expands Southern European Routes: New Destinations Coming in 2026

Finnair is set to enhance its Southern European offerings in the summer of 2026 with new scheduled flights to various destinations in Italy and Spain.

On August 29, 2025, the Finnish airline revealed plans to introduce summer flights to the cities of Florence and Catania in Italy, as well as to Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city.

Additionally, Finnair will commence flights to the picturesque Greek island of Kos, a destination the airline previously offered only as a charter flight.

“Destinations in Italy, Spain, and Greece are particularly appealing to our Finnish and Northern European customers during the warmer months. These new routes will expand our Southern European network, catering to both beach lovers and cultural enthusiasts, with travel seasons extending from spring through autumn,” stated Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer.

Flight Schedule Details

– From April 2 to October 18, 2026, flights from Helsinki to Florence will operate bi-weekly.

– From April 11 to October 24, 2026, flights between Helsinki and Valencia will also run twice a week.

– From March 31 to October 21, 2026, flights from Helsinki to Catania will take place three times weekly.

– From May 5 to October 24, 2026, flights connecting Helsinki and Kos will operate twice a week.

Other destinations included in Finnair’s summer 2026 Southern European network comprise Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Verona, and Bologna in Italy.

In Spain, the airline will also serve Madrid, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma, as well as the Canary Islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. Additionally, Greek destinations like Chania, Heraklion, Rhodes, and Santorini will be part of this expanded network.
