Turkey May Secure Boeing and Lockheed Contracts During Trump-Erdogan Talks

Speculation is increasing regarding Turkey’s potential order for Boeing planes and Lockheed Martin fighters during the upcoming meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump.

The two leaders are scheduled to engage in discussions on September 25, 2025, at the White House. These talks are anticipated to solidify several beneficial agreements for both countries.

Turkey reportedly aims to acquire hundreds of Boeing aircraft and F-16 fighters, while also seeking a resolution for the future sale of F-35s, according to Bloomberg.

In 2019, the United States excluded Turkey from the F-35 program due to its acquisition of the Russian S-400 defense systems.

An Italian news outlet, Il Sole 24 Ore, indicated that negotiations might include up to 250 commercial aircraft, with Turkish Airlines likely to be the primary customer.

A spokesperson for Turkish Airlines mentioned, “We have been discussing an order with Boeing for some time, but a final decision has not yet been made,” as reported by Il Sole 24 Ore.

Recently, President Trump expressed confidence that a solution regarding the F-35 could be reached. He stated, “We are working on many Trade and Military Deals with the President, including the large-scale purchase of Boeing aircraft, a major F-16 Deal, and a continuation of the F-35 talks, which we expect to conclude positively.”

Ahead of the summit, Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat traveled to New York on September 21, 2025. During his flight, he noted, “Talks with Boeing and Airbus are always on the table.”

Bloomberg further reported that President Erdogan is keen on securing the production of some F-35 components within Turkey during the negotiations.
