American Airlines Enhances Luxury Travel with Bollinger Champagne
FORT WORTH- American Airlines (AA) is enhancing its premium travel experience with a new Champagne collaboration, introducing Bollinger (BLJ) this fall. This initiative is designed to elevate the Flagship First and Business Class offerings on international routes.
The introduction will first take place on flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and will subsequently expand throughout the Flagship network. For travelers looking to enjoy Champagne on the ground, select Flagship Lounges in major airports, such as Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), and Chicago O’Hare (ORD), will also feature Bollinger.

American Airlines Premium Flights Champagne
The choice to feature Bollinger Special Cuvée highlights American Airlines’ commitment to improving its service quality. Moving away from its previous reputation, this partnership aims to enhance the overall passenger experience.
This strategic collaboration with the renowned Champagne house signals an effort to redefine the airline’s image amidst competition from Delta Air Lines (DL) and United Airlines (UA).
Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden is at the forefront of these changes. She draws from experiences in the hospitality industry, including Disney and the Auberge Resorts Collection, to create initiatives that enhance the travel experience.
Recent improvements include the reintroduction of pajamas and mattress pads in Flagship Business for long-haul flights, upcoming free in-flight Wi-Fi, and the reinstatement of full-service dining that had been suspended during the pandemic.
This Champagne partnership represents a significant shift, focusing on attracting travelers who value premium amenities aligning with global standards.

Competitive Champagne Service
The return of Champagne service is quite significant, especially after American Airlines had replaced traditional options in Business Class with Ferrari Brut Trento DOC in 2023. With the addition of Bollinger, AA directly challenges Delta’s Taittinger Brut Réserve and United’s Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée in their premium offerings.
However, brands like Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Dom Pérignon remain closely associated with Emirates due to a 2022 exclusive partnership with LVMH, which has even compelled some airlines to remove Dom Pérignon from their menus, such as Singapore Airlines (SQ).

Lounges and Ground Experience
Bollinger is now available at American Airlines’ Flagship Lounges in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), and Chicago O’Hare (ORD), with plans to expand to Los Angeles (LAX) and Philadelphia (PHL).
This effort illustrates a broader commitment to consistent premium service both in the air and on the ground, underscoring American Airlines’ drive to compete effectively in the luxury travel sector.
How do you think these upgrades will impact the travel experience for premium passengers?
