Uzbekistan Airways Secures 22 Boeing 787s in Historic Order

Uzbekistan Airways, the flag carrier of Uzbekistan, has unveiled plans to add up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to its fleet, marking a historic acquisition for the airline. This order consists of a firm commitment for 14 787-9 models, with options for an additional eight aircraft, as confirmed by both Uzbekistan Airways and Boeing on September 22, 2025. The first deliveries from this significant order are slated for 2031.

During the United Nations General Assembly, this milestone was celebrated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, along with key leaders from Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways.

The partnership between Boeing and the Uzbekistan Ministry of Transport has been further solidified with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) aimed at enhancing the country’s aviation landscape.

The airline aims to expand its global reach

The introduction of the 787-9 will allow Uzbekistan Airways to broaden its international routes, specifically targeting long-haul destinations such as the United States. The airline is focusing its efforts on expanding connectivity to regions like Central Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

“This new agreement enhances our airline’s role, as well as our nation’s, in becoming a key aviation hub in Central Asia, while offering our passengers improved global connectivity,” remarked Shukhrat Khudaykulov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways.

Boeing also highlighted that this acquisition will modernize Uzbekistan Airways’ widebody fleet and support nearly 35,000 jobs in the United States. “We cherish our nearly 30-year collaboration with Uzbekistan Airways and are committed to aiding their growth ambitions as they connect with more regions worldwide,” stated Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing. He emphasized how the 787 Dreamliner will facilitate the airline’s entry into new markets.
