Breeze Airways Earns US Flag Carrier Status and Unveils International Routes

Breeze Airways shared exciting news on September 25, 2025, when it received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a US flag carrier. This designation allows the airline to operate under existing bilateral aviation agreements between the United States and other nations.

David Neeleman, the founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, expressed his enthusiasm about this significant achievement. He noted that the team had been diligently working for the past three years to reach this milestone.

“Achieving the status of U.S. flag carrier is a monumental achievement for Breeze, and our dedicated team has put in tremendous effort to make this happen,” he stated in an official announcement regarding the airline’s new classification.

With this certification, Breeze Airways is set to launch its inaugural international scheduled services, targeting three Caribbean destinations.

Starting in the first quarter of 2026, the airline will operate flights to Cancun, Mexico (CUN), Punta Cana (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic, and Montego Bay (MBJ) in Jamaica from six major airports across the U.S.

Among these, Cancun will receive the majority of the new services. Nonstop flights will be available from Charleston (CHS) in South Carolina, New Orleans (MSY) in Louisiana, Norfolk (ORF) in Virginia, and Providence (PVD) in Rhode Island.

Montego Bay will have service from Tampa (TPA) in Florida and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina. Notably, RDU will also become Breeze’s 12th operational base, employing around 200 staff members, including pilots and cabin crew. Additionally, it will facilitate a twice-weekly flight to Punta Cana.

At this stage, all of these services are planned to be seasonal, specifically operating during the winter months.
