Emirates and Safran Partner to Launch Aircraft Seat Manufacturing in Dubai

Emirates and Safran Seats, a prominent manufacturer in the aircraft seating industry, have forged a collaboration with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a new manufacturing and assembly facility in Dubai.

This announcement was made on the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025. According to Emirates, this joint venture is groundbreaking, with an initial focus on business and economy class seats tailored for cabin retrofit projects, while aiming to expand into line-fit installations in the future.

The facility is set to support both Emirates and other clients of Safran Seats, marking a significant move towards cultivating a comprehensive aerospace manufacturing hub in Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing aerospace manufacturing capabilities. The goal is to attract component suppliers, technology innovators, and skilled workers from across the globe.

“We’re bringing world-class seat production capabilities and supply chains to our doorstep, which will create highly skilled jobs and develop the expertise needed to support Emirates and supply seats for export to other airlines,” Maktoum stated.

Emirates pointed out that Safran has been instrumental in its fleet renewal initiatives, supplying premium seating solutions for the airline’s retrofit program as well as its new A350 fleet.

The construction of this facility is expected to be finalized by the fourth quarter of 2027, encompassing approximately 20,000-25,000 square meters of industrial space.

The gradual ramp-up of operations is planned, beginning with the assembly of up to 1,000 business class seats each year.
