SWISS Launches Its Inaugural Airbus A350 Intercontinental Flight

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has proudly completed its first intercontinental journey with the Airbus A350, featuring the Wanderlust livery. The flight traveled from Zurich, Switzerland, to Boston, USA.

Details of the Historic Flight

Operating as LX52, this marks the airline’s first long-haul service utilizing the Airbus A350, signifying the commencement of regular scheduled operations. According to FlightRadar24, the aircraft covered a distance of 6,027 kilometers in approximately eight hours. Landing in Boston at 18:37 local time on November 20, 2025, there were no delays reported.

Ceremony and Celebrations

Before departure, SWISS hosted an official ceremony to celebrate this milestone, attended by CEO Jens Fehlinger and CCO Heike Birlenbach. Fehlinger remarked, “Our new Airbus A350 marks the next step in our development, in technological, commercial, and guest experience terms. It’s quieter, more efficient, and more comfortable than any other aircraft we have operated to date.”

Enhanced Cabin Experience

With this new Zurich-Boston Airbus A350 service, travelers can now experience the ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin for the first time, which features enhanced long-haul inflight services.

The ‘Senses’ cabin experience includes welcome drinks, refined meals, signature cocktails, upgraded Business Class bedding, premium amenities, and modern inflight entertainment options.

Future Plans for the Airbus A350

SWISS plans to use its first Airbus A350 on short-haul flights in the upcoming weeks. According to the airline, Montreal will become the second long-haul destination for this new aircraft.

The inaugural passenger flight of the Airbus A350 took place on October 25, 2025, with a route from Zurich to Palma de Mallorca.
