Vietnam Airlines Unveils Direct Flights from Saigon to Copenhagen
Vietnam Airlines is set to expand its horizons with a brand-new route connecting Asia Pacific to the Nordic region. Beginning on December 15, 2025, the airline will operate its first direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Copenhagen Airport (CPH), marking the first nonstop link between Vietnam and Denmark.
H2: Enhancing Connectivity
This new route, functioning three times a week on the carrier’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, represents more than just another addition to the airline’s itinerary; it establishes Vietnam’s inaugural direct air bridge to Scandinavia.
H3: Benefits for Travelers
For Vietnamese tourists, this route streamlines travel by removing the need for stopovers in Tokyo, Bangkok, or the Middle East, which have traditionally complicated journeys to Scandinavia. Nordic travelers will enjoy immediate access to Vietnam’s delicious pho and stunning beaches without the usual connection challenges.

H2: Flight Schedule and Capacity
Flights will depart from Ho Chi Minh City late on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, arriving in Copenhagen the following morning after approximately 12 hours of travel time. Return flights will leave Copenhagen around midday on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, landing in Vietnam just after midnight.
The Dreamliner configuration comprises up to 300 seats, including business class with popular reverse herringbone seats, premium economy, and economy options. Vietnam Airlines anticipates carrying around 20,000 passengers in the first year of operation.
H3: Strategic Partnerships
The announcement of this new route follows Vietnam Airlines signing four key partnership agreements with Danish entities. Collaborations have been established with Greater Copenhagen Connected for tourism initiatives, Copenhagen Airport for service enhancements, and tour operators Albatros Travel and Nordic Travel.
In partnership with Saigontourist, these companies are developing travel packages aimed at attracting Danish tourists to Vietnam’s scenic beaches and culinary delights, while also helping Vietnamese travelers explore Scandinavian saunas and the mesmerizing northern lights.
H2: Strategic Importance of Copenhagen
“Copenhagen serves as a gateway to the wider Scandinavian region,” said Pham Thi Nguyet, the airline’s Marketing and Product Sales Director. She emphasized that the route is strategically chosen due to the Danish capital’s central location, making it an ideal launch point for venturing into all four Nordic nations.
Nguyen Tien Hoang, overseeing Vietnam Airlines’ operations in Europe, views this route as a vital piece of the carrier’s European framework. “Copenhagen will be an essential gateway to connect the economies, cultures, and political landscapes between Vietnam and Northern Europe,” he noted.
