Paul Terstegge Takes the Helm as Transavia CEO for Growth and Sustainability

Transavia, a fully owned part of the Air France–KLM group, has appointed Paul Terstegge as its new CEO. He takes over from Marcel de Nooijer, who led the airline for six years.

In an official announcement, the low-cost airline revealed that Terstegge will commence his duties as CEO on February 1, 2026.

With this leadership change, Transavia aims to embark on a targeted growth strategy, expand its European network, and work towards a quieter, more sustainable aviation future.

“We warmly welcome Paul to Transavia,” stated Jenny Elissen, Chair of Transavia’s Supervisory Board. “His vast national and international experience will be key to Transavia’s next chapter.”

Terstegge boasts a wealth of experience in the aviation sector. His background includes various general management roles overseas and leadership in a significant operational division at KLM.

Additionally, he has held several strategic positions in Paris and has played commercial roles within the Air France–KLM Group. Currently, Terstegge is the Executive Vice President of Inflight Services at KLM.

“Even though I haven’t met everyone yet, I can already feel the energy within the organization,” commented Terstegge. “I am excited to collaborate on innovative solutions and continue providing an enjoyable and affordable travel experience for all our passengers.”

Throughout De Nooijer’s leadership, Transavia modernized its fleet by transitioning from Boeing to Airbus aircraft. The airline also initiated various CO2 reduction projects and expanded its network with new destinations.

De Nooijer collaborated with KLM to create a new 7,000 square meter gas-free aircraft maintenance hangar at Schiphol-East, part of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). Construction of this facility began in April 2025.
