Etihad Introduces First Direct Luxembourg-Abu Dhabi Flights on A321LR

Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to launch the inaugural nonstop flights connecting Luxembourg with Abu Dhabi, marking a significant achievement as the first Middle Eastern airline to service this route.

The new service will commence on October 29, 2026, offering three weekly direct flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Luxembourg Airport (LUX). These flights will utilize the A321LR aircraft, noted for its long-range capability and premium three-class seating arrangement. Passengers can look forward to First Suites and lie-flat seats in Business Class, alongside a modern Economy cabin that offers ample legroom, 4K touchscreen entertainment, Bluetooth connectivity, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Etihad’s CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, emphasized the importance of this new route, highlighting how it goes beyond just providing connectivity. “For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly linked to the Middle East, with Etihad as the sole carrier offering nonstop service to Abu Dhabi. This development presents new opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchange between Europe and the UAE,” he stated.

Neves further highlighted that the flight timings are strategically designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers. Business travelers will find the schedule accommodates corporate demands, with departures from Abu Dhabi scheduled for early morning, allowing for morning arrivals in Luxembourg. The return flights are set to leave Luxembourg in the late morning, reaching Abu Dhabi by evening.

Etihad Airways shared their excitement on social media, stating, “Luxembourg is next on our map – get ready for takeoff! ✈️ Starting 29 October 2026, we’re flying to the heart of Europe, connecting Abu Dhabi with Luxembourg and beyond.”

The airline’s Airbus A321LR plays a crucial role in their medium-haul growth strategy. The first of these aircraft was delivered in mid-2025 and began operations on August 1, 2025, initially servicing the route between Abu Dhabi and Phuket.

Initially planning to lease 20 A321LR aircraft through AerCap, Etihad has since expanded its order to include 30, with ten being directly ordered from Airbus. Deliveries of these aircraft are ongoing and will continue through 2026 and beyond.

As this exciting new route promises to bridge two vibrant regions, are you looking forward to the upcoming flights?
