Delta Air Lines Achieves Record Revenue in 2025 and Orders 60 Dreamliners
Delta Air Lines has announced a significant order for up to 60 Boeing 787-10 aircraft, comprising 30 firm orders and an additional 30 options. This announcement arrived from the US aircraft manufacturer on January 13, 2026.
This marks the airline’s first acquisition of the Dreamliner model. In the past, Delta primarily selected Airbus aircraft, such as the A350 and A330, for updating its long-haul fleet. The new Boeing 787-10s are expected to primarily serve Delta’s transatlantic and South American routes.
The timing of the announcement coincided with the release of Delta Air Lines’ financial results for the complete year of 2025.
In their financial report for 2025, Delta reported a GAAP operating income of $5.8 billion, derived from an operating revenue of $63.4 billion, resulting in a margin of 9.2%. Their pre-tax income totaled $6.2 billion, leading to an earnings per share of $7.66.
Total revenue saw a modest increase of 2.3% compared to the previous year. Notably, Delta highlighted what they categorize as “diversified revenue streams,” which saw substantial growth, contributing to around 60% of overall revenue.
The air cargo sector grew by 9%, while Delta’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, under Delta TechOps, expanded impressively by 25%.
Additionally, the airline’s loyalty programs and credit partnerships played a vital role in generating revenue. In particular, the American Express co-branded credit card program reported earnings of $8.2 billion, reflecting an 11% rise from the prior year.
